LogMineCentral

Ground control inspections data collection and management system

An A2GC―Gotologic partnership

A2GC and Gotologic have developed since 2019 “LogMineCentral,” a mining application to
collect field visit and inspection data on tablets synchronized to an interactive database. Using
pre-made templates (“forms”), tablets are used to collect in a standardized manner field data
such as:

  • Field inspections
      • Routine visits
      • Ground fall investigations
      • Conformity checks
      • Requested inspections
      • Legislated verifications
      • Damage mapping
      • Urgent assessments
      • Task observations
      • Instrumentation readings
      • Any other field visit. The ability to customize forms directly on site allows to standardize any
        conceivable type of technical visit.
  • QA/QC documentation and results (pull-tests, shotcrete panels, grout cylinders, etc.)
  • Mapping/ geomechanical characterization (collection of Q, RMR, GSI, MRMR, IRMR, etc.)

The database can then be queried by those with access rights to follow-up on the status and
history of excavations, pending remedial work, performances, progress on QA/QC requirements, etc.

Tablets are synchronized via the network to a central database, which allows to:

  • Reference other documents to each underground visit entry, such as other reports, layouts, photos, movies, plans, sketches, memos, spreadsheets, presentations, stope books, etc.
  • Place all the relevant information in a single location, making it quickly and readily accessible to everyone allowed to consult it
  • Conduct easy and rapid searches on past inspections by date, location, mine coordinates, personnel, activity, type of excavation, conformity status, etc.
  • Track progress towards meeting GCMP commitments (e.g., on QA/QC)
  • Emit customized reports such as lists of completed inspections, conformity reports, QA/QC test follow-ups, weekly and monthly reports, etc.

The application is highly flexible and allows far-reaching customization by the site:

  • On the workplaces (including their hierarchy, e.g., mine, zone, block, level, lift, sector, stope, etc.)
  • On the types of inspection
  • On the forms themselves (entries content and layout, possible values, comment sections, logos, language, etc.). It is also possible to import an entirely customized graphic form on which to super-impose interactive entry fields.
  • On the stakeholders (Personnel involved ; Rights (read-only, read-write, approbation only, administration); Approbation hierarchy for the field inspections and subsequent actions
  • On the reports generated (layout and content)
  • LogMineCentral can also be synchronized to other databases or applications for which the data structure is known

Benefits of the application include:

  • Conformity with best industry standards on the management of geomechanical data (e.g., AMQ in Quebec, Ministry of Labour in Ontario, or any other relevant jurisdiction)
  • Customizable as per the specific site needs
  • Simple to use – just fill the forms
  • Standardization of methods
  • Structured data management, with data accessible to all with rights to access
  • Easy management and follow-up of non-conformity remedials and GCMP commitments
  • Elimination of lost time and errors when digitizing manual field notes
  • Improved communications between departments and all stakeholders
  • Real-time construction and maintenance of the corporate memory
  • Easier personnel rotation and process continuity
